Not a lot of information is known about Captain Hook's backstory, but there are several different books, plays, and movies that attempt to understand it. One television movie suggests that as a child, Hook was the leader of a wild gang of boys who used to pickpocket for fun in their hometown of London. They discover a portal to another dimension — Neverland — and go to live there forever, eventually becoming the most fearsome pirates in the land.
