Ashley Johnson as Yasha
Ashley Johnson is an actress and voice actress, best known for her roles in the show Blindspot and the video game The Last of Us. Because of scheduling issues with Blindspot, Ashley often has to leave the group for filming.
Ashley plays the aasimar- or half-angel- barbarian Yasha. Yasha is the strong, silent type, but her rage in battle can be deafening. Yasha often leaves the group to their own devices, as she prefers to work alone. When she does work with the group, she often accompanies Beau or Molly.
Laura Bailey as Jester
As a voice actress, Laura Bailey is best known for her work in video games such as Uncharted 4, Halo 5, and Gears of War 4. Laura has been married to fellow cast member Travis Willingham since 2011, and the two are currently waiting on a child!
In-game, Laura is known as the half-devil tiefling Jester. Jester is a cleric of the trickster god The Traveller, and always acts with a cheery, mischevious demeanor and accent. She is very sociable, but has taken a liking to Nott and Fjord.
Liam O'Brien as Caleb Widogast
Liam O'Brien is known for his voice acting roles in video games like Final Fantasy and several English dubs. Before the beginning of Critical Role, Liam and Sam were very close friends, and the two were the first to suggest the idea of the game. Liam has been married to Amy Kincaid since 2002.
Liam plays the human wizard Caleb Widogast. A reputable genius with a dark and mysterious past, Caleb- and his goblin companion Nott- travels the world seeking hidden knowledge to reach his ultimate goal, which is as of yet unknown. Caleb is known for constantly being dirty or unsociable and for speaking with a German accent.
Marisha Ray as Beauregard
Wife of Matthew Mercer and the least experienced voice actress of the cast, Marisha's more famous roles include 8.13 and Batgirl: Spoiled. She is, however, more well known for her work on Critical Role.
As Beauregard the human monk, Marisha takes on a more gruff role. Beau (as she is called) isn't the most charismatic people-person, and often puts people off with her oddly gruff demeanor. In battle, Beau fights with a quarterstaff and her fists. She tends to keep company with Fjord, Jester, and Yasha most often.
Same Riegel as Nott the Brave
In addition to his job as a voice director, Sam is an accomplished voice actor, appearing in shows and games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Amazing Spiderman, and DuckTales. Before the game began, it was Sam and Liam's idea to play a pen-and-paper RPG, which eventually evolved into the Critical Role of today.
Sam plays the femals goblin rogue Nott. A verifable kleptomaniac, Nott is constantly attempting to steal what she considers most valuable - trinkets. She is quite protective of the wizard Caleb Widogast, noting that she feels more like a mother to him. She has also noted that she hates being a goblin, and is trying to get out of her skin.
Taliesin Jaffe as Mollymauk
A self-proclaimed "recovering goth kid," Taliesin is known for his acting roles in Mr Mom, Hellsing, and Street Fighter IV. Even before Critical Role, Taliesin was an experienced pen-and-paper player, and has only played two characters through the game's entire run.
In-game, Taliesin plays Mollymauk Tealeaf, the tiefling Blood Hunter. A circus performer wielding strange blood magic, Molly is the most "out-there" in the group in terms of personality. He knows not his past; he woke up one day in a grave, remembering nothing. He claims he doesn't want to know who he was, just who he is. He most often pairs with Fjord or Yasha.
Travis Willingham as Fjord
Husband of Laurs Bailey, Travis's voice can be found in TV shows and video games the likes of Batman, Halo 5, Avengers Assemble, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Him and Laura have been married since 2011, and the couple is currently expecting a child.
As the half-orc warlock Fjord, Travis plays a character who is at the same time gregarious and mysterious. Having formed a pact with an unknown magical entity, Fjord is often haunted by strange dreams and magically appearing seawater. His perfect ability to disguise his voice (and himself, if using magic) leads some to believe he isn't who he says to be. He can usually be found with Beau, Jester, or Molly.
Matthew Mercer as the Dungeon Master
An accomplished voice actor, Matt is known for his voice roles in Overwatch, Resident Evil, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Fallout 4. He has been married to fellow cast member Marisha Ray since October of 2017.
As the campaign's Dungeon Master, Matt is in total control of everything behind the scenes of the game. He orchestrates the overarching plot of the game, and he has given his voice to hundreds of the game's non-player characters. Every monster, every guard, everything in the game that isn't a player is controlled by Matt.
