JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
JoJo no Kimyo na Boken
ジョジョの奇妙な冒険
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険, JoJo no Kimyo na Boken), is a supernatural manga written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. Starting in 1987, the manga (often shortened to 'Jojo's' or 'JJBA') tells the story of the ill-fated Joestar family through the generations. The story is told in 'Parts,' and the protagonist of each respective Part is given the moniker 'Jojo'. As of 2017, there are eight Parts. It is both one of the longest-running and best-selling manga of all time, and continues to be popular even after thirty years of run time. JJBA has recieved critical acclaim for its iconic, unique, and ever-evolving art style, as well as its unusual storytelling. It has inspired many other popular series, and its references to and from pop culture are uncountable. JJBA is also famous for its concept of 'Stands,' many of which are named after classic rock bands- after Araki's own tastes. Many magna clichès have originated in JJBA, and it continues to be a staple of the supernatural genre and of manga as a whole.
I chose to do this as my project because not only is JJBA a verifiable manga legend, but the stylistic motifs (such as the repeating 'Jo', bright colors, and numerous symbolic backgrounds) are very fun and easy to incorporate into a webpage.
Unfortunately, this is cannot a comprehensive guide to Jojo's, because no one person has that much time.
