OpTic Gaming started out as a group of four players who only played video games on their free time. However, when Machinima began to host online competitive matches off their website, they began to take things more seriously. In 2009 the first Lan tournament was held for the Call of Duty Title MW2. OpTic made their debut at that even and began to take things to the next level of competition. Three years later OpTic won the first million dollar tournament, and began to expand into various eSports leagues. As of today, OpTic Gaming is owned by CEO Hector Rodriguez. They compete in many games such as: Call of Duty, Overwatch, CSGO, League of legends, Gears of War, Halo, Dota 2, and Pub G.

I chose this topic because eSports has been blowing up over the past few years. The competetive scene accross multiple games has expanded world wide. In this last year alone, cities in the united states have been investing in aquiring an eSports team to represent them in tournaments. The owners of The MLB franchise the Texas Rangers, invested in OpTic Gaming in order to buy an Overwatch team now known as the Houston Outlaws. Prior to the creation of the Overwatch League, there were several countries that had national teams competed against each other for a world championship. The opportunity in this field is only getting bigger with new game releases each year. Gaming is slowly becoming the future of entertainment. E-League has been the first to broadcast their tournaments on actual television.
