Zeus was the first of the Gods. Also known as the "Father of Gods and men". He is a sky god who controls lightning and thunder. His father is Cronus and he also has siblings named Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Demeter and Hera. He received the lightening bolt from the Cyclops who were the giants that helped Zeus in the war against his father. He uses the lightening bolt for defence along with a bright golden shield with an eagle engraved in it.

Zeus later married his sister Hera who then became the queen of goddesses. In their relationship they had two children who are known as the gods Ares and Hephaestus. Even though being married to Hera, Zeus also had many love affairs with other goddesses and mortal women. From these extra relationships on the side, his children include the gods Apollo, Dionysus, Hermes, the goddess Artemis, the heroes Heracles and Perseus. He also gave birth to goddess Athena who sprang full grown from his forehead. She was produced without a mother, so that she emerged full-grown from his forehead. There was an alternative story that Zeus swallowed Metis, the goddess of counsel, while she was pregnant with Athena, so that Athena finally emerged from Zeus.

Juilian and I (Kirstina) chose Zues for out topic because Greek Mythology intrests us. We enjoy the berserk stories that the Greeks made up. Spesifically Zues, he is the most interesting of all. He is the first of the Gods to exist. His family is full of many other important Gods and Goddesses. We just overall enjoy Zues in Greek Mythology.
