Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc was a peasant girl that lived in medieval France. She knew that God had picked her to lead France to victory in its long war against England. Joan convinced the embattled, crown Prince Charles of Valois to allow her to lead a French army to the besieged city of Orléans, where it achieved a momentous victory over the English and their French allies, the Burgundians. After seeing the prince crowned King Charles VII, Joan was captured by Anglo-Burgundian forces, tried for witchcraft and heresy and burned at the stake in 1431, at the age of 19. By the time she was officially canonized in 1920, the Maid of Orléans (as she was known) had long been considered one of history’s greatest saints, and an enduring symbol of French unity and nationalism.

Joan

I choose to make my legend project on Joan of Arc because of the impact I have on her. She is a big saint in the Roman Catholic Religion, that I admire. She was a simple humble, young lady with alot of courage and valor. Those are the two characteristics I admire from her. Another thing that impacted me from this Saint, was the life she lived. It was a daily routine, full of twists and turns. In the end after all her devotion to her desire of being victorious, she ended up being burnt. Luckly her hard work payed off, when she was canonized in 1920, as the Maid of Orléans.
